Making new friends as an adult can be tough, and finding friends when you’ve relocated to a new country can be a daunting task. Making friends in your new workplace may be difficult. There is likely to be a much more diverse spread of ages in an office and they may already have their families and a wide social circle behind them.
Other than work, the best way to find new friends is to join a group of like minded individuals. However, the key is not just to attend the social events, but to then invite two or three people from it out for coffee or for a few drinks. Likewise, don’t be afraid to accept invitations, no matter how daunting it seems.
Don’t forget to ask people for contact details, and utilise social media and group messaging to help you to keep in touch with people. When you are establishing new friendships, you need to take the time and effort to maintain connections. It won’t take long before you realise that these people are your new friends.

With people from all over the world living in Ireland, you can find a club for just about any kind of sport. Or you could consider trying your hand at traditional Irish sports like Gaelic football, hurling handball or rounders.
